You will need to buy a clasp and enough tubbing for folding the ends under and a handle, usually 1 foot extra is good.  StrapWorks sells clasps (first link).

Harness Info:

(Note, harnesses are optional, please ask if you have questions about them and whether one is appropriate for your dog or not.)

The best type of harness is one that makes a T or Y shape on the chest so the the front movement of the shoulders is not restricted at all. 

You don’t want any of the “no-pull” styles that have a strap horizontally across the scapula as their purpose is to restrict movement.
